How OrthoVoyage Works: From First Call to Flight Home
OrthoVoyage is a UK-facing medical travel concierge. We arrange orthopaedic surgery for UK patients at a private surgical hospital in Jelenia Góra, south-west Poland, and coordinate the trip from the first call to the flight home. We are not a hospital and we do not give medical advice: every clinical decision is made by you and the surgeon.
Key facts
- OrthoVoyage is a medical travel concierge for UK patients, not a hospital; clinical decisions are made by the patient and the surgeon.
- The partner hospital is a private surgical hospital in Jelenia Góra, south-west Poland, about two hours from London by direct flight to Wrocław plus a transfer of roughly an hour and a half.
- The surgery date is set after the consultation with the surgeon, because it depends on the individual case.
- Patients pay the hospital directly: a 20% deposit to secure the date, and the balance at least 2 working days before surgery or on admission.
- Before paying anything, the patient receives the hospital's name and address, the surgeon's name and the implant model in writing.

The eight steps
- Free assessment. A 60-second online assessment tells you whether surgery in Poland could be an option and what it would cost on the hospital's own prices.
- A call with your coordinator. We go through your situation, your scans and your questions.
- Consultation with the surgeon. Whether surgery is appropriate, and which operation, is confirmed with the surgeon. The surgery date is set after this consultation.
- Your written plan. It names the hospital, its registered address, your surgeon, the implant model and your itinerary — before you pay anything.
- Deposit. 20%, paid directly to the hospital by bank transfer or its secure payment link.
- Travel. A direct flight from London to Wrocław, about two hours, and a private transfer to the hospital.
- Surgery and recovery. For a joint replacement: three days in hospital, then up to seven outpatient physiotherapy sessions while you stay nearby.
- Home. You fly when your surgeon clears you. You bring back your records in English, the implant details and a rehabilitation plan for your GP and physiotherapist.
What we do, and what we do not
| OrthoVoyage does | OrthoVoyage does not |
|---|---|
| Explain the hospital's prices and what they include | Diagnose you or recommend an operation |
| Coordinate consultation, dates, transfers and hotel | Hold your money — you pay the hospital |
| Stay in touch from first call to flight home | Promise a surgery date or a day you will fly home |
| Help you prepare questions for the surgeon | Replace your GP or your UK physiotherapist |
The hospital asks us not to use its name in advertising. It is not kept from you: it is in your written plan before you pay, so you can check it independently.
What it costs
You pay the hospital's own list price: from €6,940 (about £5,970) for a hip replacement and €8,620 (about £7,420) for a knee replacement. The full price list covers every operation and implant option.
Flights, hotel and a private room are extra. Quotes are valid for 90 days. If you cancel for an important reason at least 72 hours before the operation, the deposit is refunded within 14 days.
Before you decide
- Tell your GP about your plans.
- Read the NHS treatment abroad checklist.
- Arrange travel insurance that covers planned treatment; most standard policies exclude it.
- Line up physiotherapy at home for the weeks after you return.
- Bring someone with you, particularly for the journey home.
Our guides on whether surgery abroad is safe and flying after a joint replacement cover the risks in detail.
Frequently asked questions
Is OrthoVoyage a hospital?
No. OrthoVoyage is a medical travel concierge for UK patients. Surgery is carried out at a private surgical hospital in Jelenia Góra, Poland, and all clinical decisions are made by you and the surgeon.
Who do I pay?
The hospital, directly. A 20% deposit secures the date and the balance is due at least 2 working days before surgery or on admission. Your payment goes to the hospital's own bank account, not to OrthoVoyage.
How soon can I have surgery?
The date depends on many factors, so it is set after your consultation with the surgeon.
When do I fly home?
When your surgeon clears you. The return is usually arranged by the patient, and your coordinator helps you plan it once the surgeon has reviewed your recovery.
Why don't you name the hospital on the website?
The hospital asks us not to use its name in advertising. Your written plan names the hospital, its registered company details and address, your surgeon and the implant model before you pay anything.
