Price and what it covers
| Poland (partner hospital) | UK (Practice Plus Group) | |
|---|---|---|
| ACL reconstruction | €4,630, about £3,990 | £7,399 |
The Polish price is for reconstruction with a bone–patellar tendon–bone (BTB) autograft: a strip of your own patellar tendon with a small block of bone at each end. The price is the same whether titanium or bioabsorbable screws are used.
Unlike a joint replacement, the ACL price does not come with a package of three hospital days and physiotherapy sessions. Ask for the hospital stay, any physiotherapy in Poland and the brace or crutches to be itemised in your written quote.
Flights and hotel are extra. UK price from the Practice Plus Group price list, correct as at June 2026 and checked 7 October 2026.
Plan the rehabilitation before you book
The result of an ACL reconstruction depends heavily on the months of physiotherapy that follow it. If you have the operation abroad, that physiotherapy happens in the UK, so arrange it first:
- find a physiotherapist experienced in ACL rehabilitation and agree a start date
- ask the hospital for a written rehabilitation protocol in English
- budget for private physiotherapy if you do not want to wait for an NHS appointment
- tell your GP before you travel
Return to sport is a decision for your surgeon and physiotherapist, based on strength and stability tests rather than a date in the calendar.
Who this suits
Travelling for ACL reconstruction suits people who are paying for themselves, have rehabilitation arranged at home and can travel with someone for the journey back, since you will be on crutches.
It makes less sense if the saving is small once flights, hotel and private physiotherapy at home are added. Work out the full cost both ways before deciding.
