Hip and Knee Replacement in the Czech Republic: Prices for UK Patients, and How Poland Compares (2026)

Joint replacement in the Czech Republic is sold mostly as a package with inpatient rehabilitation. Published packages start from €8,500 for a hip and €9,500 for a knee with eight days of rehabilitation, and from €12,200 for surgery with a two-week rehabilitation stay. Trips are long — ten to nineteen days — which suits patients who want supervised recovery before flying home.

The Czech model: surgery plus inpatient rehabilitation

The distinctive feature is rehabilitation as an inpatient stay, bundled into the price. One clinic group says stays last 19 days on average, with a minimum of 16.

That is a real advantage if you want daily supervised physiotherapy before you travel and can be away for two to three weeks. It is a drawback if you need to be home sooner, or if a companion would have to stay with you throughout.

Practical points

  • Flights: about two hours from London to Prague, with direct routes from many UK regional airports including Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle.
  • EU membership: the Czech Republic has been an EU member since 2004.
  • Accreditation: hospital accreditation by the national Joint Accreditation Committee is voluntary, so ask whether the hospital holds it.
  • GHIC: covers state healthcare only, not private treatment.
