| Ramsay Health Care (Woodthorpe Hospital) | cemented from £14,884 | quoted separately |

From each provider's own website, checked 22 September 2026, except the Spire Bristol figure, which comes from Practice Plus Group's published June 2026 comparison — Spire publishes prices per hospital, so check the page for the hospital you would use.
Circle Health Group puts the UK average for a private hip replacement at about £14,500, and Practice Plus Group at about £14,412.
The implant changes the price more than the brand of hospital
Ramsay publishes its Woodthorpe prices by implant type, which shows the effect clearly:
| Implant | Price |
|---|---|
| Cemented | from £14,884 |
| Uncemented | from £16,412 |
| Ceramic | from £16,556 |
That is a £1,672 spread inside one hospital, for the same operation. A quote is only comparable if you know which implant it covers — and your surgeon chooses it based on your bone quality, age and activity level, not on price.
Our guide to hip replacement abroad lists the same options and what they cost at our partner hospital.
What each package includes
- Practice Plus Group — pre-operative assessment, surgery, hospital stay, prescriptions, equipment and follow-ups including physiotherapy; diagnostics after the consultation are extra.
- Circle Health Group — surgery, consultant and anaesthetist fees, hospital fees, a private room and aftercare; consultation and scans extra.
- Nuffield Health — pre-assessment, treatment and post-discharge care as a guide price; the fixed all-inclusive price comes after consultation and can change with consultant fees, prosthesis, drugs and pre-existing conditions.
- Spire Healthcare — pre-assessment tests, consultant and anaesthetist fees, nursing care, medication and food during the stay, a standard prosthesis; aftercare includes physiotherapy up to the number stated in your treatment letter and medication for up to 14 days.
- Ramsay Health Care — per hospital and per implant, with finance options published alongside the price.
After a hip replacement you will need equipment at home — a raised toilet seat, a grabber, a long-handled shoehorn. Spire says explicitly that some home aids are not included; ask every provider the same question.
What the price doesn't cover
- The first consultation: £95 at Practice Plus, from £200 at Circle and Nuffield, £204 at Spire Washington.
- Scans ordered after that consultation.
- Extra nights beyond the planned stay, unless the package says otherwise.
- Home aids and adaptations in many cases.
- Time off work — the NHS puts a typical return at around six weeks, longer for physical jobs.
